Researchers from the KIT and Shanghai University developed a novel emitter molecule that enables blue OLEDs with high luminosity and quantum efficiency. In the Cluster funded publication published in Science Advances, the authors present their new strategy to fabricate efficient deep blue OLEDs: The specially fabricated novel molecule enables dual-channel intra/intermolecular exciplex emission upon electronic excitation, thereby allowing deep blue electroluminescence. Cluster PI Stefan Bräse, who contributed to the results, states that the ease of molecule synthesis and device fabrication paves the way for a new generation of efficient and long-lasting deep blue OLEDs.
