Research Area C: Applications
Research Area C builds upon novel materials and printing technologies to develop new photonic, electronic, and biological systems.
The researchers of Research Area C develop new key applications in the engineering and life sciences. These applications touch upon various research disciplines, relying on the strong interdisciplinary nature of Research Area C. Some examples include photonic integrated circuits, high-precision metrology, information processing with resistive switching elements, innovative sensing and stimulation concepts in bioelectronics and new organoid differentiation and application strategies.
Research Area C will substantially contribute to the Lighthouse Projects LP3, LP4, and LP5 and is principally split into two sub areas: 3D Photonic and Electronic Systems (C1) and 3D Biological Systems (C2)
3D Photonic and Electronic Systems (C1)
In Sub-Area C1, we leverage 3DMM2O technologies for 3D photonic and electronic systems for communications and signal processing, in-memory computing architectures, security applications, micro optics and optoelectronics.
